Once you attend your first event or join our Discord community chat linked here, you’re a part of CGDC! It is free and there is no formal registration process for new members.

Even though D.C. is in our name, we host events all over the DMV! We also have subgroup events in even more locations, including further out into VA and MD. You can find these subgroups in our Discord!

Yes, City Girls Who Walk DC began in March of 2022 after our Founder, Abby, saw a TikTok of a walking group in New York City go viral. After seeing comments wishing there was a similar group in DC, she knew she had to create one! We recently changed our name to City Girls DC to reflect the wide variety of happy hours, subgroups, special events, and other ways we connect with each other in addition to our walks! As an official nonprofit, we look forward to ensuring accessible opportunities to making new friends, building our community, and exploring the DMV with YOU!

We host weekly happy hours and have previously hosted special events like group fitness classes, wine tastings, volunteer events, watch parties, and webinars. We post special events in advance so we encourage members to subscribe to IG post notifications and turn on your Discord notifications so you don’t miss an @everyone announcement!

Discord is an instant messaging and social platform that we use to stay in touch with our members! Make an account and join our server at the link in our bio. We have over 10,000 members and 300 subgroups there!

We recently updated our server settings to help cut down on spam. As a result, some members are seeing an "age restricted" error when trying to access certain content.

Here's how to fix it:

1. Open Discord on your desktop or your phone's browser (not the mobile app)
2. Look for the age-restricted content prompt
3. Select "Enable Access"

That's it! You should be able to access our server as normal after that.

We post our monthly calendar right before the start of each month. Happy Hour details are shared on Monday/Tuesday the week of the event and walks are shared on Wednesday the week of. Special events are announced in advance. Subscribe to IG post notifications and turn on your Discord notifications so you don’t miss an @everyone announcement! If you don’t get a ticket, keep an eye on #general-chat or the event-specific channel as tickets are often resold.

Of course! The purpose of CGDC is to meet new people, so we foster a welcoming environment! Many members come alone to events, but it’s also okay to bring a friend! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on walks, but some walks may end at a location that does not allow pets inside.

We welcome people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds who identify as a “City Girl.” We specifically state when an event is all-gender and host quarterly all-gender walks & events where we welcome our male friends.
